Rebranding a B2B Messaging Startup

MessageDesk: MessageDesk needed a brand identity that clearly communicated their messaging services and appealed to a diverse client base, including small-to-medium businesses. We rebuilt the brand and the customer-facing system to match where the company was actually going.

01 · The brief

Creating a Distinct Brand Identity and User-Centric Website

MessageDesk operates in b2b & technology — a category that demands its own kind of attention from the brand and the buyer journey both. The work that got the company this far had earned its market share. The brand and digital surface area weren’t carrying the weight at the same level the rest of the operation was.

MessageDesk needed a brand identity that clearly communicated their messaging services and appealed to a diverse client base, including small-to-medium businesses. They also required a strategic, user-focused website that could grow with their company and serve as a resource for business operators.

The brief was a system rebuild — the kind of work captured in our master frame: Developing a Cohesive Brand Identity and Dynamic Online Presence. Brand strategy, identity refresh, customer-facing experience design, and the post-launch measurement framework that lets the in-house team extend the work without us in the room.

02 · The approach

Developing a Cohesive Brand Identity and Dynamic Online Presence

Pillar 01

Logo and Brand Narrative

A New Logo to Clearly Represent Messaging Services Commence Studio collaborated closely with founders Clint and Cory Vernon, and Kyle Kuczynski to design a logo that clearly represents MessageDesk's messaging services.

Pillar 02

Illustrations

Supporting Messaging with Inclusive Visuals To cater to the diverse range of small-to-medium businesses, Commence Studio created an expansive illustration library.

Pillar 03

Web Design and Strategy

User-Focused Web Design Commence Studio's digital design team conducted evaluations of the existing MessageDesk website, leveraging data-driven insights and user experiences.

Pillar 04

Team Portraits and Branding Elements

Connecting with Clients through Team Portraits To complement the new brand and enhance their online presence, Commence Studio's creative director and photographer produced headshots and team portraits.

Pillar 05

Embedded with the in-house team, not parachuted in.

Multi-month or multi-year embedded engagement — fortnightly sprints, weekly syncs, async-friendly Loom updates. Trust built through delivering, not pitching.

Pillar 06

A design system that scales across product and marketing.

Token-based design system covering hardware product UI, web app, marketing site, paid creative, and sales enablement — same primitives across every surface.
